Finally! The post you’ve all been waiting for (or so I think, at least for me!): OUR WEDDING. Yes, in all of its glory, splendor, and what have you as we have (finally!) received our full wedding album from our fantastic photographer.
So, without further adieu…our wedding day.
About Our Little Wedding
David and I got married on July 1, 2021 in Prescott, Arizona on the front porch of a darling historic yellow home affectionately called The Virginia Dollhouse. It was small and intimate, with only our parents and a few siblings that helped with the wedding: My sister’s boyfriend, Mike, married us, and my sister Shannon did my hair and make-up. The plan was to have a sweet and small wedding and then later have a large reception with family and friends, but for the actual wedding day, I wanted to keep it simple.
Our theme for the day, if you will, was to have a retro Americana July wedding. I love July weddings and loved the idea of getting married right before the 4th of July weekend. Plus wedding pictures with patriotic bunting was really a driving factor for me.
Our colors were yellow and green with splashes of red, and being utterly gingham obsessed, I incoporated gingham from David’s bow-tie, to my bouquet and shoes. We decorated with lots of lemons and limes and daisies, and had personalized Coca Cola along with Five Guys delivered for our wedding dinner and then had a cherry pie cutting!
The Virginia Dollhouse
This house was so charming! It is actually an Airbnb, and I emailed the owners and asked if we could have a small wedding on the front porch. They were so delightful and accommodating and obviously said YES! I have a love relationship with yellow houses and it was perfect that the house had our color scheme! Yellow, green and red!
We set out retro lawn chairs in the quaint front yard for our guests and then lined the little walkway to the porch with pinwheels and lemons and daisies. We also hung up an American flag to keep that Americana theme we had going.

My Wedding Dress
Growing up, my mom always sewed my special dresses and I wanted her to sew my wedding dress. I also fell in love when I was around eighteen years old of the bridal ensemble Claudette Colbert wore in It Happened One Night. I’ve always been a huge vintage/retro fan and loved the 1930’s bridal silhouette especially. So that is what my dress too inspiration from.

Getting Ready
For our wedding day, we decided we would start by having a first look, take formal portraits around Prescott before tying the knot later in the evening followed by our Five Guys dinner and cherry pie dessert.

My Bridal Charms
Something Old: My gold purse. I have had this vintage styled sequin purse since I was twenty.

Something New: My pearl monogramed bracelet

Something Borrowed: Lace from a Vintage 1950’s veil that I incorporated into my bouquet. I had found the veil a while ago from an antique store. My mom and I used it around an embroidery charm I had custom made from Etsy for my daisy bouquet which says “he loves me.”

Something Blue: my hangar and hankie

And a sixpence in her shoe:
Since I’m a raging Anglophile, I really wanted an actual British sixpence which I found this beautiful keepsake piece along with an actual British sixpence from The Knot.

The First Look

Our Formal Wedding Photos

I wanted to take pictures on one of my favorite places in Prescott, Mt. Vernon Street where Victorian and beautiful vintagee homes line the shade tree street. We got some lovely shots with some of my favorite old houses.

We then went to the Courthouse Square and took some formal portraits at the courthouse and (gasp! my favorite!) the gazebo that was all decked out in patriotic bunting.

Just Married!

Coca Cola, Burgers, and Cherry Pie!

David told me right before we cut into the cherry pie that he in fact never was the biggest fan of CHERRY PIE! lol. I was like, tough, you’re sharing a bite. This was his face when trying to chew the cherry pie LOL.
