New Years Eve // 2023

New Year’s Eve!

I was never one to make NYE a big deal. I’m more of a morning person and can get in a MOOD when I’m tired. But the past few years I’ve began to enjoy this holiday a bit more. I love how sparkly, gold and silver it is, and the excitement of a clean slate that a new year brings.

I get super dorky, and get all excited about buying a new planner from Target, make sure my highlighters are fresh and then I happily fill in my planner, creating new goals and a vision for the new year.

I’m a homebody so I prefer to spend a cozy night in for New Year’s Eve. Plus people can really get on my nerves after 8 o’ clock. But hey! Even if you spend it at home, it can still be festive and pretty, dammit! One decorative detail I’ve always wanted to do was inspired by a picture of a New England hotel in the Victoria magazine. This classic hotel hosts a black tie NYE dinner party in their ballroom and every New Year’s Eve they fill the ballroom ceiling with balloons, with ribbons hanging down. Since then, I put that idea in my back pocket for my future little house someday.

Next year, I’ll buy a bigger helium tank and more balloons LOL.

For the tree I threw gold and silver gift wrapping ribbon onto our Christmas tree to make it more New Years Eve-ish.

And, of course, my NYE headband LOL.

Poor David got sick with the flu. The past three years we both got extremely sick on NYE. Really reinforces my desire to hunker down and be totally anti-social on NYE LOL.

I look all chipper but I collapsed in the bed with the flu the very next day. Ugh.

But! I made a damn Baked Alaska! Huzzah!

Here I am, staying up until midnight by myself with Harry Potter and a Martinellis because David succumbed to the flu LOL.

XoXo,

Courtney
